YOHEI NOGUCHI

YOHEI NOGUCHI makes decorations called Duodje.
Duodje refers to ornaments made using traditional embroidery techniques that have been handed down for hundreds of years by the Sami people, the indigenous people of Lapland, which spans four countries: Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Russia.
The Sami people make a living by herding reindeer, and in honor of their reindeer, they make bracelets and other accessories using reindeer skin, antlers, and pewter wire, which is used in local decorations.
In other words, this Duodje is made from fragments of gratitude and prayers and their accumulation.
YOHEI NOGUCHI is a self-taught designer who creates decorations born from facing this kind of life, here in Japan.
Please enjoy his unique Duodje created by incorporating traditional Japanese techniques such as mizuhiki and braiding into the design, based on local traditional production methods.
