Duodje is a traditional embroidery technique that has been handed down for hundreds of years from the indigenous Sami people of Lapland, which straddles the four countries of Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Russia. The name "Turtle" refers to the
The Sami make their living nomadically by herding reindeer, and in honor of these reindeer, bracelets and other accessories are made from reindeer leather, antler, and tin thread (pewter wire) used for local decoration.
In other words, Duodje is made from fragments and deposits of gratitude and prayer.
YOHEI NOGUCHI is a self-taught craftsman who creates these ornaments here in Japan.
He uses traditional Japanese techniques such as mizuhiki and kumi-himo (braided cords) as well as local traditional methods and designs, and combines them with new materials such as pearls and crystals to create his unique Duodje.
